Dispensing.

Drugs dispensed are checked against dispensing's for the last three months. For repeats, drugs dispensed in the 3/12 before the original of which this is the repeat.

 

Point of Sale

If the customer is identified, items purchased are checked against other OTC purchases during the last three months and against drugs dispensed recently (times as above).

E.g. If a patient is on Warfarin, and purchases Alkaseltzer, as soon at they are identified during the OTC sale the interactions will be detected and advised when possible.

Customer identification

1. Any OTC sale which includes a script collection automatically identifies the patient for all the items in the OTC sale.

2. Any account (debtor) sale.

3. Any customer club sale.

4. Any sale where the customers ID card is scanned.

5. Customers can be identified manually... select Customer and type in the name for lookup using the Patient lookup of the dispensary module.

 

Warning

The pharmacist checking the output must still exercise professional judgement as the program is not guaranteed to detect every significant interaction.
