Monthly vs Weekly Foil packs.
Regardless of how the foil pack is printed the doses should be entered the same. If the patient instruction is 'Take TWO tablets THREE times daily then this should be entered as:
2 2 2 0
Likewise the periods should be entered as:
Morning Noon Evening Night
(not: Morning Morning Morning Morning)
'Print Foil As' has three types:
Monthly (each pack is one time period, the scripts have a 28 day duration)
4 x Weekly (each pack is one week, the scripts have a 28 day duration)
1 x Weekly (each pack is one week, the scripts have a 7 day duration)
Note: Only the top seven rows are used for '1 x weekly' foils.
When any of these options are selected you will notice a set of blue and white stripes. Horizontal stripes for weekly packs or vertical for monthly. These stripes indicate which area of the grid goes in which pack. This makes it clear which blister pack each day, time period and dose belong to.
The editable foil grid is 4x28.
It is possible to edit any period on a foil. There is a scroll bar on the right side of the grid, which indicates where in the grid you are. If you have a medicine which has an unusual duration (10-day antibiotic), or starts part way through a foil pack then you will have to enter the dose into every cell on the grid.
Note: You can hold down 'Alt' and press 1, 2, 3 or 4 to jump to the beginning of any pack.
