[Revised Nov 06]
(This method is no longer recommended- Please use trackable vouchers. Refer to Selling Trackable Vouchers)
The way these are handled will depend on the preferences of the management of each particular business.
External discount vouchers should not be confused with
loyalty club vouchers issued in house.
Setting up a voucher
From the RxOne Start Menu, Select Stockcards
Create a new stockcard call “Boots $5 Voucher”
Tick Ask Price
Add the barcode from the printed voucher
Click on Exit to Save
When the barcode is scanned at the till, this product will be called up, and enter -$5.00 for the value
Redeeming by customer
Either treat as Cash or create a Voucher Card.
Cash A customer hands over $5 plus a $1 voucher (making $6 'cash' in total). For a $3.50 item, give $2.50 change on $6 tendered.
Voucher stock card. Or, create a stock item called '$1 voucher' with a retail price of $1. When a voucher is handed in treat as a 'returned' item, eg, a quantity of -1 (negative 1). A customer hands over $5 cash plus $1 voucher. You sell a $3.50 item plus 'sell' -1 of the $1 vouchers, making a $2.50 sale in total, and give $2.50 change on that for $5 tendered.
A "Voucher' stock card could also be an 'ask price' item and so able to handle all values of vouchers.

Back office handling
Vouchers/coupons are in effect a draft (cheque) on the organisation issuing them, and the total of cash, cheques, bankcards and vouchers should balance with the `cash' total. Treat them as cash which happens to be issued by someone other than the central bank. Exchange them for real money with the issuer as convenient and meanwhile treat them as a special type of bank note.
Issuing to customer
When selling a gift voucher, just sell off the ''Voucher' stock item.
Gift Cards
If you are interested in adding Gift Cards to your shop display, contact HealthSoft. We can get these made in any denomination and design (even customised with your shop logo). Once the card is issued, set up an account with that amount of credit. You get your money up front so it is a no risk deal. Great idea for that spontaneous birthday, anniversary or Xmas purchase at the POS counter.
