[Revised Aug 02]
Outer should normally be '1'
Packs should be the packsize.
The stock card line "An outer is .... Packs of ..." Allows for items to be dispensed in units, but sold and reordered in packs.
The options for 'Order in outers or packs' or 'Order in outers only' or 'order in outers as 1' allow the ordering method to be specified.
When you click on ordering tab in stockcards and hover over (hold mouse over) the 3 different types of ordering, it will bring up an explanation of the ordering type.
Examples;
Granocol, 'an outer is '1 pack of 250'
"Order in packs or outers" (you can order in 250G packs)
Telfa pads, 'an outer is 125 pack of 1'
"Order in outers as 1" (you want it orderd only in 125 packs, but you want the wholesaler to get an order for '1', not '125')
Wrinkle remover cosmetic, 'an outer is 3 packs of 10'
"Order in outers only" (The Cosmetic Company will only sell you the 10ml wrinkle remove in lots of three).
Order in outers or packs. Is the normal setting. The computer will then order in outers if it is economic to do so, but in packs if necessary.
Order in outers only. Use only if the supplier will not supply in anything smaller than an outer, e.g. some cosmetic companies will only supply in 3s, so that is effectively the outer. Do not use this option just because you normally buy in outers, or feel that this would normally be the right amount as that deprives the computer of the ability to reduce the stock if the item slows down. The program will, in any case order in outer's if it is economic to do so.
Order in outers as one.
There are a few products where the product arrives as a total box, but the items are sold individually. An example is Telfa pads where you buy in a box of 125 but are sold singly.
This type of stock card should be set up with cost set as the cost per 1 pad, e.g. list cost .38c and retail as 70c - the mark up for this item will automatically be calculated for you. The ordering options should be set as 'order in outer's as 1' and 'an outer is 125 packs of '1.
When the stock needs to be re-ordered, 'RxOne' will order you a whole box, but price stickers will price individually for you.
