OTC & RM Sales

[Revised Mar 2013]

Over-The-Counter and Recorded-Medicine sales can be dispensed in three ways, depending on recording requirements:

Dispensing:

Ensure that there is a 'S3' indication on the drug card. Go to the Drug card, Drug Info tab. Go to the 'Indication' menu (or right click in the white area below the indications) and then 'Add Indication'. The name of the Indication should be S3. Choose 'S' as the PBS category and add any price or markup required.

In a script tick 'S3 Recordable' on status panel, then type in the drug name and choose the S3 indication.

Without recording:

From main dispensing screen select Utilities then OTC Script (Or <Ctrl> U for quick entry from the main screen). The OTC window will appear. Enter all the appropriate details. The label produced has the drug name and quantity, instructions, price and date.

This is suitable for single drug OTC sales.

Recording if the patient is NOT known:

Dispense as for a script for a 'patient' names 'OTC' and a 'Dr' of OTC. Give this 'patient' a patient category of 'Private' to get Private pricing and prevent these scripts being claimed on Claims.

To record an OTC under a patient name:

Enter Patient name when selling a stock item marked as OTC or RM/S3 in stock cards, then in Dispensary, search for Patient, click on 'OTC and RM ' tab)

Override the price... <F6> for OTC price or <F7> for Private price or change the price in the price field as you prefer. The script will automatically be kept out of the 'Claims'.
