Claims, Splitting claims

[Revised March 02]

There are two types of split claim;

1. Split on date. Required when a pharmacy changes ownership mid way through a claim period.

2. Split by type of script. Required when a pharmacy needs to claim from two separate payment offices, e.g. standard 'Medicare Australia' and some special contract to supply under unusual circumstances.

Split on date

Any number of claims can be prepared during a batch period, by using 'New Claim' as usual.

E.g. Pharmacy changes hands on 26th of the month.

- Previous owner makes up a normal 'New claim' on 25th, which will include all scripts up to 25th.

- New owner makes up normal 'New Claim' on 31st. This will contain scripts dispensed 26th to 31st.

Scripts will not be double claimed.

Split by type of script

A claim includes all claimable scripts. If claims for part of the batch are required from different sources, make up a claim as usual and then make a Copy. Send both to the pricing offices concerned, which should both pay for only those scripts that apply to them.
