Pricing, S'net

[Revised Jan 1999]

If SS pricing falls below the s'net cut off, it is repriced using the 'Under s'net' markup and dispensing fee' specified by the user on the pricing options menu.

There are two pricing methods for this type of script, according to the user's choice of setting on the Major Options menu under 'Reprice under fee NSS'. Set to either 'Cost plus markup' or 'SS plus Premium'.

E.g. for a $15 patient suppose the item has a SS price of $14, and when priced on 'under s'net' rules comes out at $17.

'SS plus Premium'. The 'cut back' option. If set to this option, in the example above the patient price will be cut back to $15 (plus any premium). There will be no charge for repeats, apart from a premium.

'Cost plus markup' The 'cost plus' option. With this option, in the example the patient is charged the full $17. There is no charge for repeats.

However, this becomes more complex on repeats if there is a premium. In the above case, suppose there is a $1 premium.

There was no premium charge on the original script since it was a wholly NSS script charged at 'cost plus markup', and more than recovered the $15 plus $1 = $16.00.

But for the repeat, the allowable patient charge to date is a total of $15 plus 2 x $1 = $17, which has already been collected, so there will be no premium charge on the first repeat. On the second repeat, there will be $1 to pay as expected.

With the switch in this position, repeat premiums will be individually calculated for every repeat, and the balance to the patient charged. Note 1 This may correctly be zero or lower than expected.

Note 2 If the premium on the original has been manually suppressed, it is correctly suppressed on the repeats too.
