Psychological Pricing, Price Points

[Revised Nov 14]

There is a charge for this function, which is available on request to HealthSoft.

RxOne has price points. Instead of rounding to 10c you can set a variety of price points.

The retail price on the stockcard will be set to a value as calculated by your price points settings. Then in POS, if the customer is paying in cash the charge will be rounded according to your rounding settings in options.

How to activate the price points (psychological pricing)?

Obtain your activation code from HealthSoft. (Your activation code is ___________________).

Then go to Tools, Options, POS Settings, select Psychological Pricing, tick the psychological pricing check box and then enter the code given. It will then take you into the screen where you can reset your price point parameters.

The parameters have been set to the following defaults:

- between xx.00 and xx.50 round up to xx.50 so $19.24 becomes $19.50

- between xx.51 and xx.99 round up to xx.99 so $19.76 becomes $19.99

How do I change my price points?

To change the default settings go to Tools, Options, POS Settings, Psychological Pricing.

To remove an existing price points select an item and click on delete

To add a new price point click on add then enter the limits for cents to start with and cents to end with and what to round to. Select ok to save your settings.

To check the rounding, enter a value in the 'value to test' box and select test value and it will show you how it will be rounded.

Will I need to re-sticker my shop when I change this option? No you won't.

The retail price on the stockcards will remain as it is until there is a cost price change in Orders or Supplier Updates or when you manually re-enter through the price fields in a stockcard.

You can wait till the price changes come up in Orders or Supplier updates to re-sticker the items.

Or you can force the rounding of the retail price in Bulk Stock Edit utility to print new price stickers.

Can I re-sticker my shop as I deliver my orders?

Yes you can. As the items are delivered, if the retail is different or the cost price is different then extra stickers will be printed for all your stock on hand so you can re-sticker those items as you put the stock out.

How do I force the rounding of the retail price in Bulk Stock Edit Utility?

In The Bulk Stock Edit Utility there is a check box for “Force Rounding of Retail using Psychological Pricing”. You can do this either by product groups or by suppliers so you can re-sticker a section of the shop at a time. Or you can leave the options on ‘ALL’ to do the whole shop at once.

Question

If there are a certain range of products I don't want the psychological pricing to apply to how do I handle this?

Answer

a) If psychological pricing (price points) is switched on and you do not want to apply psychological rounding to a particular stock item, then go to the stockcard and select ‘Apply No Rounding’ in the stockcard.

You can apply this change to a range of product in Bulk Stock Edit utility. Under Tools, Stock Utilities, Bulk Stock Edit Utility, use the filters available to bring up the selected stockcards. Click on the ‘Select Option’ tab. Tick ‘Rounding type’, then select ‘Apply no rounding’.
