Foil, Signing sheets

[Revised 15 Apr 2014]

PRN Signing Sheets

There are 4 options:

1. Medico Non Pack – prints in the same format as what's on the back of the medico pre-printed sheets. Each sheet can print up to 5 drugs across.

2. Medico Pre-printed– use this if you want to print the name of the medications at the back of the pre-printed sheets.

3. Non Pack & PRN –  PRN meds printed on A4 laser signing sheets (e.g. showing week 1,2,3,4 or different periods). Prints only one drug per sheet

If it's not doing this, please change setting in printer set up by going to Foil Signing Sheet, Advanced, in PRN signing sheet box, select ‘Pre-printed non Pack & PRN’ or ‘Non Pack & PRN’

4.   Preprinted Non Pack & PRN (Same as 3 but on preprinted sheet).

'Start date' on Signing Sheets

If this is not to be date of printing, go to Printer setup, Foil signing sheet, Advance, choose foil type and then Modify Foil. Then select add and click on yellow highlighted box and type in S (for start) it will then bring up the selection box for choose the heading and set the X, Y co-ordinates.

Signing Sheets print incorrectly

The most common cause of this is printing the wrong signing sheet type for the paper used.

If the paper you are printing on has pre printed information on it, ensure the 'Use pre-printed signing sheet' option is ticked.

Signing Sheet for Nonpack and prn meds

The following changes were made to the foil signing sheets after consultation with Douglas Pharmaceuticals (Medico). They  will reflect the fundamental philosophy governing the use of signing sheets:

1. The dose instructions are not printed on the nonpack and prn signing sheets.

Instead 'Refer to Medication Chart' will be printed on this. (The person administering the non packed drug must refer to the Medication Chart for dosage instructions and not use the signing sheet as a medication chart).

2. a) Non pack and prn meds do not print on the same signing sheet (SS) as the foil drugs. They print on a separate non pack/prn signing sheet.

b) Each 'non pack' drug should have its own individual column/sheet as each drug must be individually signed.

PRN Signing Sheets (different styles of signing sheets for Rest Homes and to add the date to the blister)

Tools, Printer Setup, Foil Packaging, Advanced, Modify Signing Sheet

Then up to “File”, Copy Signing Sheet

Name the “Signing Sheet”,  Tick "Print Dates in Grid". (Or any other change you want to make)

Then click Ok, ok, ok.

Go into Tools, Utilities, Other Utilities,  Add/Modify RestHome. Find the RestHome that wants the new style signing sheet

Then click on drop down field in the “SS Type” column and select the signing sheet just created.

This will work with signing sheets, prn signing sheets and foils

When the foil or signing sheet is printed if the RestHome says default will print the main foil type shown in advanced settings

Otherwise will print the foil or signing sheet in selected in the RestHome.

You can then add this to the relevant patient (as required) to show dates in the blister.

Traps:

Ensure foil settings are copied to all machines that print foils otherwise foils won’t print

(Packed drugs can be on one signing sheet as they have been packaged into one blister for each dose time and person administering from the blister pack is signing for what's in the blister).
