This section intended for computer technician use.
[Revised May 05]...
The system log is a list of events that have occurred. It can be used by computer professionals to investigate unexpected happenings. All system errors, and many unusual operator activities, are recorded here. It also shows the time of start up and shut down.
- The file is too big to be viewed directly from within the program, but can be viewed by loading with the Windows 'Explorer' to load c:\phcypro\syslog or c:\phcypro\syslog.txt
Example of usage
Mysterious script number change
- A site reported that the script number had spontaneously reset itself, causing considerable problems with duplicated script numbers. Examination of the system log showed that one particular staff member was resetting the script number regularly in the mistaken belief that this would reset the 'Script Owing' flag on all scripts.
Notes
For better diagnosis of problems, the System Log is kept individually on each unit and not collated onto the master unit. It must be viewed on that machine.
