Roll-Forward data recovery

[Revised Aug 02]

Pharmacy data is important, and while it should be backed up every day (but not more often), there is still the chance of a crash just before the next backup. To prevent loss of data for work done since the last backup, 'RxOne' has a machine readable audit trail (external to the database) which it uses to provide 'roll forward' data recovery, re-entering for itself all the work done since the backup was made. Normally this is successful and no data is lost. This recovery is automatic if the default option 'Restore database and recover work since last backup' option is selected on restoring.

Recovering PoS data

If a PoS Slave has been set to be the Master because of a serious hardware failure, after the Master is operational and the temporary Master returned to being a Slave, go to each Slave and from the Windows 'start' menu select 'run' and type in

\phcypro\lotspos recover <enter>

This needs to be entered on each till, and should be done on the same day of the crash / hardware failure.
