[Revised Jan 04]
Usually caused by the 'unprintable area' not being set correctly.
To correct, on an existing system
If a previously correct system starts to cut off text, something has been changed. Rather than random searching for a cause, question all staff closely for a clue to the cause. Likely changes are;
1. Change of printer, or printer driver.
2. Modification to printer 'unprintable area' setting.
3. Change of settings on the printer itself.
4. Installation of other software (even if the installation was abandoned), which has changed the printer settings.
To correct, on initial installation.
If a particular printer's driver does not support an unprintable area setting, then that printer cannot be used. Do not be tempted to use another printer's driver to get this setting... it may work apparently correctly short term but use of non matching drivers is known to produce random machine crashes.
To set 'unprintable area'.
1. From Windows start button, 'Settings'. 'Printers'.
2. Right-click on the relevant printer.
3. Select 'properties'
4. Select 'Paper'
5. Select 'Unprintable area' (If such a choice is not available, either the printer drive is not correct for the printer, or the printer is not suitable.)
6. Set all four values, Left, Right, Top, Bottom, to '0'. Often if a printer has been changed or new printers set up, Windows will default the left setting to 635. Just change it back to '0', not forgetting to hit 'OK' afterwards.
Note
If print is too high or too low on the label, but fills the correct area, manually wind the labels up/down by hand, and do not attempt to correct with this printer setting.
