EFTPoS, Integrated, Overview

[Revised April 2019]

Overview

On a fully integrated EftPoS sale the sales person completes the sale and the computer immediately gets authorisation for the amount of the total (cash-out is also possible). Control is passed from the pharmacy software to the EftPoS software which automatically dials out and passes the dollar value together with the account type (credit or debit card) to be processed electronically. channel. If sufficient funds exist, this is indicated and the sale transactions are completed.

RxOne can use DPS Payment Express system (For details on this product please call HealthSoft or call DPS on 1800 006 254) or PC EftPoS.

Benefits of Full EFTPOS Integration

Only single line for all lanes. Where multiple POS computers are networked, all EftPoS transactions are routed through the server to the EftPoS modem.

Improved accuracy of sales transactions. There can be no discrepancy between the amount entered in the computer and that which is debited from customers accounts.

Your valuable counter-pace is increased as the added clutter of having an EftPoS terminal on the counter is removed. With the integrated solution, only a Keypad is used and the terminal is done away with.

Speed of processing sales is increased as there is no double entry and as soon as the sale is tendered, automatic dial up begins - saving valuable time.

Receipt printing for both the sale and the EftPoS is from your docket printer.

Preparing for EftPOS Installation

The systems can use either a dial up line, or a dedicated high speed link. The necessary setup is arranged through your EftPoS supplier. If you currently have EftPoS running call them and provide them with your merchant number to discuss your situation and needs. Aspects you will need to discuss with them whether you already use EftPoS or not are:

- Current EftPoS program (lease vs own equipment)

- Purchase / lease new Keypad. There is a buy back scheme if you currently own you terminal. The cost of the rental of the Integrated EftPoS pad is only a little more than on-integrated.

- Purchase / lease Modem. EftPoS requires using a particular modem which encrypts data being transmitted. This modem can also normally be used for your other modem requirements.

- Requirements in terms of a power-point for the modem and one for the keypad.

- One serial Comms. port for the keypad on each POS computer and two serial Comms. ports for the computer to which the modem will be attached, if this will have a keypad attached in addition to the modem.

'Secondary Acquirer' Cards

- The EftPoS suppliers are not currently able to provide for secondary acquirer cards such as Flybys as a fully integrated package. If your business currently processes secondary acquirer cards, this can still continue as before in exactly the same way. In this case you will need to keep your existing EftPoS equipment operational.

Note

Integrated EftPoS requires Windows XP or later (noting that Windows XP is retired since April 2014 and will no longer be supported by Microsoft after that time).
