Dr's Bag orders

[Revised Sep 03]

Dr's Bag

For 'Drs Bag' and similar supplies which are not on a prescription for a specific patient.

To dispense a Supply Order

1. Proceed the same as for a normal script, with the 'Patient' having the name of the practitioner, E.g. "Dr's Bag for Dr A Smith".

2. Use a 'Patient category' of 'D' for 'Dr's Bag'

3. Dispense the items as usual, choosing the 'Drs Bag' indication.

Charging/Claiming Dr's Bag

Items available on an Dr's Bag will be charged on 'Claims'.

To avoid 'Script only' items being dispensed by mistake on an Dr's Bag, when the 'patient category' is Dr's Bag it will display only those items which are able to be dispensed on a Supply Order and suppress other items. Consider this if an item appears to have disappeared when you try to dispense it on an Dr's Bag... has it been removed from the Dr's Bag list?

Items which are available on Dr's Bags but for which the quantity exceeds the Dr's Bag limit are charged as wholly Private.

Non-Dr's Bag items required?

To dispense suppressed items as a Private Dr's Bag, set up another 'Patient' with a name this time of "Private items for Dr Smith" and a patient category of "F". 'F'oreign is a category that forces an item that would normally be NHS to be private, as for 'F'oreign tourists. All items will be displayed, automatically priced as Private, and not claimed.

Note

If lookup of Supply Order becomes slow, see Archiving
