[Revised June 1998]
OTC scripts can be dispensed in three ways, depending on recording requirements:
Without recording:
From main dispensing screen select Utilities then OTC Script (Or <Ctrl> S for quick entry from the main screen). The OTC window will appear. Enter all the appropriate details. The label produced has the drug name & quantity, instructions, price & date.
This is suitable for single drug OTC sales.
Extemps (mixtures) must use one of the 'recording' options below.
Recording if the patient is NOT known:
Dispense as for a script for a 'patient' names 'OTC' and a 'Dr' of OTC. Give this 'patient' a patient category of 'NSS' to get NSS pricing and prevent these scripts being claimed on SmartClaim.
To record an OTC under a patient name:
Dispense as for a script and override the price... <F6> for OTC price or <F7> for NSS price or change the price in the price field as you prefer. The script will automatically be kept out of the 'SmartClaim'.
Notes
In all three cases stock control is handled and the 'script' is kept out of the 'SmartClaim'.
