Pharmacist interventions into the patient's treatment can be recorded against a script item and collated together on an 'Intervention Report'.
To add an intervention
On 'main dispensary' screen or on a patient history, highlight script item, then right mouse click on 'add/edit intervention'.
A form will come up with ten reasons:
1. Payment issue
2. Prescription Clarification/Omission
3. Product availability
4. Adverse Drug Reaction
5. Drug Interaction
6. Drug Allergy
7. Drug Therapy Problem
8. Drug Monitoring
9. Insufficient Patient Knowledge / Education
10. Patient Concerns/ question
And 6 grades of interventions:
1. Bureaucratic
2. Save patient money
3. Clarified prescriber's intentions
4. Optimise drug therapy
5. Prevent a threat to health
6. Prevent a potentially life threatening incident
Select the reasons and grades by clicking with mouse or typing in the numbers
There is a drug card called "drug not dispensed", which can be used for any drugs not dispensed because of the intervention. i.e. Dispense 'drug not dispensed' to patient and record name of drug in instructions.
To Report Interventions
Go to Reports, Script Reports, Interventions and select the options required. There are options to report on all drugs or a specific drug or a specific doctor or a specific intervention or grade.
For example:
If you want a report on all drugs then leave it on ‘All Drugs’ and put in the date range and select ‘Next’
If you want to report on a specific intervention and/or grade just highlight what you want before selecting on ‘Next’.
Exporting the Report
There is an export button to enable this information to be exported.
It can be also saved to a flash drive : Select the 'Export' button, the "Save as" screen will come up. In the "Save in" box select the Flash drive, enter in a file name and then select 'Save'.
