[July 2004]
These are the drugs that are NSS or discontinued and so not listed on the Pharmac schedule but for which a subsidy is available under 'Exceptional Circumstances'. The drug card will have an 'Unlisted Indication'.
To Dispense with an 'Exceptional Circumstances' number
Tick the Special Authority box and enter the number. Enter the wholesaler pack price when the CBS box comes up. Healthpac has no cost price for these drugs and so requires the CBS to be sent through on the claim for payment.
If a drug is not marked as available for 'Exceptional Circumstances'
If an exceptional circumstances number is issued between drug file updates, you can mark it as available yourself to allow immediate dispensing. .. but please also let the 'Help desk' know so that the Drug file Pharmacist makes the change on the Master Drug File.
To mark a drug as available for 'Exceptional Circumstances'
Rename the 'indication' name to 'Unlisted'. Go to 'Drug Information' and tick 'CBS' box on LHS of screen and on RHS of screen tick the 'SpecAuthindicatesSS' check box. If you want a reminder, under 'comments' type in the following dispensing message: "Subsidy available in 'Exceptional Circumstances".
